Attention Customers: While Citizens Fiber is always doing the best we can to prevent spam, phishing, and other potentially harmful emails, unfortunately some of these emails may make it to your inbox. Here are some tips to stay vigilant.
- Be hesitant of any email that asks you to click on a link to do something. When Citizens sends you emails, they are meant to inform you and don’t typically want you to click on any links in the email.
- Check the From email address to see if it comes from an @CitizensFiber.com account. Most spam and phishing emails will use a gmail address, a domain meant to seem similar to CitizensFiber.com or perhaps a compromised wpa.net email account.
- Citizens does not use wpa.net as a branding identity. We only use that for our customer email domain. If you see an email that refers to Citizens as wpa.net, it is a scam.
- Never click on any links, email addresses or use any phone numbers that come in an email. If unsure, go to our website and call in on our customer support number, 724-423-4444 and we can verify if there is any action that needs to be taken.
- When in doubt, assume it is a scam. If there is any action that needs to be taken with your account, Citizens will typically utilize multiple methods such as email, phone calls and traditional mail to reach out to you.
- Ensure that you have strong passwords on your accounts. Simple passwords or passwords that have been reused open your email account up to being taken over by a bad actor. Tools such as password managers can help to use strong, unique passwords on your accounts without having to remember all of them.
We do have two projects underway that you may be hearing from us soon. These relate to migration of some phone and cable customers to newer platforms for their service. We will be sending out letters to impacted customers.
